Writer, travel enthusiast and all round Sydney-expert Roxana Oliver gives us the lowdown on the three best day trips to take from the city to see a different side of Australia…
While it’s a truth universally acknowledged that 2016 wasn’t great for the world, personally I was lucky enough to spend more time than ever before exploring new places and ticking some of my never-ending bucket list. Here are just a few of the amazing experiences I had this year through my travels in Australia, Indonesia, Fiji and South Africa.
You’ve probably already got a variety of visuals when someone mentions Australia… but it’s not all about the beaches and the Opera House (although those are some very good draws that it would be amiss not to mention!) In fact one of the reasons I loved exploring the country so much was it’s vast and varied landscapes and so I’ve divided some of the panoramic photos from the last year into four categories demonstrating just some of the different sides I discovered.
If you’re not quite sold on Australia yet read on… I promise there’s something here for you.
After almost a whole year in Australia I finally made it to one of the places that had been top of my list to visit as soon as I knew I was headed over to this part of the world… the Blue Mountains.
Sydney is nothing short of a foodie’s paradise with every type of cuisine you can imagine and an endless list of excellent cafes and restaurants. In fact during our two week stint in Sydney we ate at least two meals a day at two new places each day and I don’t recall having a single bad experience. There were of course some stand outs. This food was so good that it would be a crime not to share where we found it. Bon appetit friends!

The dining scene in Sydney is famous for its diversity and world class food and service. As an additional plus, many of the finest restaurants here overlook Sydney’s harbour or the big blue ocean. It is no secret that one of the most popular areas in the city, for both tourists and locals, is Sydney Opera House, and tucked beneath its sails you can find some of the most amazing restaurants in the city. To save you the trouble of looking and leave you enough time to enjoy the sights of Sydney’s, here’s a rundown of the best dining places located around the Opera House.
