You might have noticed if you’ve been reading my blog a while that the thing I love most when travelling is getting to see the native wildlife and the closer I can get (without disturbing them) the better! For anyone like me who loves their wildlife I’ve put together a list of all of the animals I came across in Australia, where I did (or didn’t) see them and a few of the really cool encounters you can have with them in different places.
After almost a whole year in Australia I finally made it to one of the places that had been top of my list to visit as soon as I knew I was headed over to this part of the world… the Blue Mountains.
Ever since my amazing snorkelling and diving experience on the Great Barrier Reef last year I knew I wanted to try and visit it’s less famous sister on the other side of the country before my year here was up. Yes, last month I finally made it to Ningaloo!
It’s a beautifully sunny winter’s day in Western Australia’s capital city so while everyone else no doubt decided to bustle on to the ferry to visit Rottnest I hopped over to a quieter somewhat hidden gem of Perth that is equally as gorgeous… Penguin Island
My plan when I came to Perth was always to spend a day at Rottnest Island. Cycling around with the wind in my hair, going for a snorkel in the turquoise waters and meeting the resident quokkas was how I imagined my day going and unlike most fantasies this one actually came true!
